My September TBR

I don't normally compile a TBR for the month because I tend to pick up books based on what I've just read or what my mood is. However, for September I have made a last minute decision to join in with readathonTBR.

There's so many books on my TBR that I need to read, whether for my blog, for fun, or for my University course that is due to start again at the end of September. This readathon allowed me to fit in a range of these.

It takes the form of a 5x5 book bingo sheet, where you are given 25 prompts and you can decide which book you assign to each square. Obviously, I am not going to read 25 books so I have chosen the following 9 books that cover all of the prompts:

Starchild: Age of Akra by Vacen Taylor

Gifted to you: I was sent this in mobi format as a part of a blog tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

Ebook: I'll be reading this on my computer b9efore my blog post is due up on 17th September as a part of the blog tour.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

First in a series: I've read this and the next two in the series, but quite a while ago. I've been wanting to reread the first three before I continue the series for a while and I was finally gifted the whole series for my birthday last month. Might as well start this month.

Overhyped Book: Sarah J Mass is a very talked about author (some may say overhyped). I've recently reread ACOTAR so thought I'd reread this next.

The Handmaid's Tale Graphic Novel

Adaptation: I was bought this for my birthday because I love the TV show so much!

Graphic Novel:

Bestseller's List: The Handmaid's Tale is on the Waterstones Bestsellers List (technically not the graphic novel version, but I'm counting it!)

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card Audiobook

Audiobook: I'll be reading at least two audiobooks this month but put Ender's Game under this category

Recommended by another reader: this is my boyfriend's favourite book (or one of them at least) and he recently read on of my favourites so thought it was only fair (blog post to come about this soon).

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

Own Voices: This is the first text included that was set by the University. It is about a West African man.

Different background to you: I wanted to choose a different book for this and the Own Voices to encourage reading more diverse books but when I saw my list was already at 9, I relented. If I do have time at the end of the month, I may read another book that counts towards this prompt. Much of my University reading is from African voices so this shouldn't be hard.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Audiobook

Favourite Colour on the Cover: I am never able to choose a favourite anything; I have a few favourite colours but I've gone for purple because it's the answer I always gave as a child as well. The cover for the audiobook is purple (a surprisingly hard colour to find on covers).

On your TBR the longest: I've been wanting to reread the Harry Potter series since I first read them over 6 years ago. I'm finally starting to listen to the audiobooks and my next one is the third.

Manners of an Astronaut by Gig Ryan

Smallest Book on your TBR: at 82 pages, this poetry collection is the smallest book on my TBR. It will also be studied in my second week back at University so I need to read it this month.

Genre you don't normally read: I don't tend to pick poetry up for fun.

Seasons of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih

A classic: I'm always wary about classifying something as a classic but since this was published by Penguin Classics I thought I could include it.

New Author: Most of the books on my September TBR are new authors to me.

The Circle by Dave Eggers

On your TBR a while: I've been thinking a lot about my dissertation and I like the idea of comparing modern dystopians with 1984, so have been wanting to give this a read because the comparisons are quite interesting.

Biggest book on your TBR: technically, this is Priory of the Orange Tree but I thought I'd take my pick from books I need to read for University to make this more realistically achievable for me. The Circle is 486 pages.

Whether you're joining in on this readathon or not, what's your TBR look like for September? Let me know in the comments!
